Hi, apologies for the delay in replying, we are in a remote part of south east Asia with poor communication and no wifi for days, now more or less back in civilisation.

The Chinese don’t seem to resent westerners. We are treated politely and well on the whole. I have been welcomed into my wife’s family and am very much a part of it now, visiting and staying frequently. I have encountered a few surly taxi drivers but perhaps that’s universal. Perhaps the measure of it is that if they did, then they would boycott foreign owned stores, these are mainly of US origin. There are colossal numbers of Starbucks all over China, and you are never far from a McDonalds or a KFC (an interesting thought that in WW3 their owners would be among the biggest retail losers!), although I read that they are now losing their massive attendances to Chinese alternatives.

The biggest and busiest supermarket in the district by far is the WalMart, always packed. My wife says nobody remembers the century of humiliation and many parents would wish their children to attend western universities (although the reception they might receive nowadays would be a disincentive if they were aware in advance),

In seventeen years travelling all over China and now over four years permanently resident I have never felt threatened anywhere at any time, and certainly not by the police who are always friendly and polite. I was pickpocketed twice, a long time ago, and that’s the sum of my misfortunes.

First rate work, yet again.

Thanks very much for making the effort, Walt.

How do the Chinese you encounter view the British? It seems likely that they'd be cranky with the British, but ... maybe they're not.

Please keep this fine work coming.

A fascinating story.

It is November 6, 2024 and Trump has just won the US elections' and Republicans control most of the house and senate, if not all.

Watching this trip through history, geography, warfare, economics, drug trade, and rebuilding of the landscape from, in many places, from factories to elite housing.

I have seen the suggestion that UK planned the incursion in Kursk offensive into Russia assuming this could change the direction of the war in Ukraine. Why not try the same game again?

Looking ahead to a possible reordering of the world after the resolution of current wars:

The decades of effort to weaken Russia has finally failed. Russia arises as a world power.

Israel, 'the aircraft carrier" in the Middle East, defeated as an immoral genocide fails.

China continues its assentation without wasting effort in US/NATO enforcing rules based order

USA, Europe and NATO seem only to learn on the battlefield. Will nuclear war be averted?

Watching this hundreds of years of history in this film, has given me a better perspective on the fears of the end of democracy.

The World Economic Forum's agenda has taken a hit.
